POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, University Relations, the Director, Marketing provides both strategic direction and hands-on support to the university and oversees all aspects of the university’s strategic integrated marketing plans and campaigns. The Director is instrumental in building and protecting the institution’s reputation and image among various constituencies and in the planning, execution and evaluation of marketing strategies that contribute to the increased awareness of the NSCAD brand, both within Canada and globally, and to the growth of student enrollments.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Lead the University in developing and executing a strategic marketing and communications program that advances the mission of the University and supports institutional objectives.
  • Develop appropriate marketing materials, both digital and print, and manage advertising and digital campaigns that support NSCAD’s domestic and international recruitment efforts.
  • Direct and manage NSCAD’s online content and activities across all existing platforms, including all of NSCAD’s websites, micro-sites, applications, and social media accounts.
  • Lead the institution in the consideration of new and emerging marketing and communications vehicles and tools.
  • Determine appropriate decisions concerning NSCAD’s brand development, identity and application; Identify emerging marketing possibilities and align with opportunities to build and advance the NSCAD brand.

REQUIREMENTS

Undergraduate degree in marketing, public relations or a related field plus considerable experience in developing and managing effective marketing campaigns (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) is required. Demonstrated strategic communication, team leadership/ management, organizational, analytical and planning skills are required. Extensive knowledge of post-secondary educational issues and demonstrated success in brand implementation and brand development and management is required. Demonstrated experience in developing content for and managing websites is required. A high-level of computer literacy with advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including document design, image manipulation and page layouts along with strong organizational and communication skills are required. Experience with various design software and with planning and coordinating events would be considered an asset.
