The Nova Scotia Talent Trust named Jessica Hein, BFA’10, as winner of the $1000 Charlotte Wilson-Hammond/Visual Arts Nova Scotia Award for 2010.

Jessica and the other 2010 Scholarship and Special Award recipients were honoured at a ceremony on Friday, December 17 at the Dalhousie Art Gallery, attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia.

This year’s Special Award winners were chosen from a field of more than 50 individual scholarship recipients representing the disciplines of music, literary arts, visual arts, video/new media, dance and theatre.

Jessica is currently a masters student at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, MA.

Created to support the career of contralto Portia White more than 65 years ago, the Talent Trust has continued to support emerging Nova Scotian artists as they pursue their studies towards the ultimate goal of establishing professional careers in the arts.

The Nova Scotia Talent Trust is a not-for-profit registered charity that provides scholarships to Nova Scotians who demonstrate exceptional potential and commitment to become established artists in their chosen fields. Applicants of any age may apply but support is given to those who are not yet established in their fields and who are undertaking programs of study that will advance their artistic development and who are pursuing career paths that can lead them to become established artists.
