Wearble Art 2011 - a Gala Masquerade
April 15, 2011

Mark your calendars for Gala Masquerade, the 21st annual Wearable Art Show, hitting the runway next Thursday, April 21, at a new location: Halifax Forum Multi-purpose Centre (Young Street entrance). Doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m.

This year’s show breaks away from the traditional fashion show format and has been expanded into a full-on, gala production, including an off-stage gallery, wet/dry bar, outdoor pre-show, audience participation and other fundraising activities. Audience members are encouraged to dress up in their wildest outfits for a chance to win door prizes donated by several local businesses.

Over the years, the Wearable Art show has grown from a small evening among friends to a much-anticipated, well-attended public event. Each year the show proves to be unpredictable evening of students' creativity: conceptual and wearable fashion, sculpture, photography, performance and jewellery. It's an outright celebration of art and the body.

All proceeds raised from WAS go to support the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia and a NSCAD scholarship fund.
