Annual Fund target surpassed
December 7, 2012

It’s the best anniversary present of all: NSCAD University surpassed its target of $125,000 for its Annual Fund appeal during its 125th anniversary year.

A generous donation from Louis Leonowens, great grandson of NSCAD University founder Anna Leonowens, put the fund over the top. Mr. Leonowen’s gift was earmarked specially for the Anna Leonowens Gallery.

More than 174 private donors contributed to the 2012-13 Annual Fund, which replenishes student scholarship and bursary funds, contributes to the general endowment fund, expands library holdings and supports NSCAD’s unique services such as the Anna Leonowens Gallery, the Archives and Seeds Gallery. In giving, donors can tailor their support to the area of their choice or give to the area of greatest need.

The Annual Fund campaign continues to the end of the fiscal year on April 30, 2014. Gifts received before December 31 qualify for a 2012 charitable tax receipt.

There’s a lot more to do! Funds received over our target will go to the purchase of new furniture for the student cafeteria and make other facility improvements possible.

“We thank everyone so much who donated—alumni, faculty, staff and friends. We had many first-time donors this year, which is so wonderful,” said Linda Hutchison, director of University Relations, Alumni and Development. “Every gift, no matter the size, makes a big difference to enhancing the student experience at NSCAD.”
