ArtRageous opens August 17

NSCAD University proudly presents ArtRageous, an exhibition of artwork created by children and teens enrolled in programs through the School of Extended Studies, running from August 17 – 23 at the Port Campus.

ArtRageous showcases and celebrates the creative works of aspiring young artists who participated in the University’s first-ever series of week-long Summer Art Camps over the past six weeks. The camps offered kids and teens a chance to explore and learn from NSCAD instructors, who introduced them to the joys of drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, fashion, printmaking, graphic design, animation and more.

“For most of the students, ArtRageous represents their first public exhibition,” says Sharon Blanchard, Director of the School of Extended Studies. “From creating papier mâché masks and sock monkeys with the younger campers to jewellery and digital film making with the teens, NSCAD’s summer camp instructors focussed on making art fun and accessible for everyone – and that’s what ArtRageous celebrates.”

The works displayed will showcase a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting, sculpture, print and mixed media.

“ArtRageous is a great way for the broader community to inspire, connect with and encourage these young creators,” adds Blanchard.

The ArtRageous exhibition opens Tuesday, August 17 with a reception from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. in Room 201 of the Port Campus at 1107 Marginal Road. Refreshments and light snacks will be served. All are welcome.
