Sharon Johnson Legere appointed Vice President, Finance and Administration

Sharon Johnson Legere has accepted the position of Vice President, Finance and Administration, replacing Peter Flemming, who is retiring after 10 years of service to NSCAD University.

Sharon will be responsible for ensuring effective planning and budgetary controls, while maintaining a high level of integrity in order to achieve NSCAD’s strategic vision. As the senior financial officer, Sharon will ensure the continued financial stability of the University while seeking opportunities to increase revenue and control costs. She will also oversee the Financial Services, Human Resources, Facilities, and Computer Services departments.

Sharon brings considerable experience to this position. In her most recent role as Director, Student Resources at Dalhousie University, Sharon was responsible for the Student Service portfolio, and handled financial management and reporting, human resource management, student communication and statistical analysis. Earlier, as  Director of Finance and Human Resources with the Canadian Cancer Society, Sharon oversaw the facility management, information technology, budgeting and financial reporting.

In addition to holding a Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University and Master of Business Administration from Saint Mary’s University, Sharon is a designated  CA (Chartered Accountant) and CHRP (Certified Human Resources Practitioner). She has also completed leadership development courses through Saint Mary’s University.

Sharon will begin her duties on August 18, 2009.
