Message from the President and Chair of the Board
November 18, 2010

Dear colleagues,

After carefully reviewing the Report on the Nova Scotia University System, the senior administration along with the Board of Governors of NSCAD University would like to thank Dr. O’Neill for his comprehensive system-wide universities report.

Among the many findings and recommendations contained within the report, is a recommendation that NSCAD explore both merger and internal restructuring options. Over the course of the last eighteen months we have worked closely with the Department of Education and government officials to ensure NSCAD will continue to serve this province as this country's finest  university of the visual arts, and we will continue our efforts to this end.

NSCAD has made great strides in improving the overall fiscal health of the university over the last few years and we look forward to building upon that success in the coming months and years. Enrollments for this year are up and we see no issues in accommodating this increased student population in our existing facilities.

NSCAD will continue to build upon its already close relationships and affiliations with other institutions in the province. We are committed to collaboration and cooperation with other universities and working hard at improving overall system efficiencies and fiscal restraint.

Sincerely,

David B. Smith,
President

Michael Donovan
Chair, NSCAD Board of Governors
