Dr. Daniel O'Brien named facilitator
NSCAD University welcomes Dr. Daniel O’Brien to his new position as facilitator. He was appointed by the province as per the terms of the Howard Windsor Report, which was presented to the provincial government last month.
In his role as facilitator, Dr. O’Brien will help identify, assess and evaluate opportunities for collaboration. He will also work with NSCAD to oversee the curriculum review and space utilization study.
His tenure at NSCAD begins immediately. The university is committed to create a plan to submit to Marilyn More, Minister of Labour and Advanced Education, by March 31.
“We appreciate the chance to work with Dr. O’Brien, who as a former university president understands how universities function,” said David B. Smith, President of NSCAD University.
Dr. O’Brien was president and vice-chancellor of New Brunswick’s St. Thomas University from 1990 to 2006 and the acting president of the Atlantic School of Theology for 2011. He was appointed chair of Capital Health’s board of directors in February.
Dr. O’Brien will provide regular progress reports to the Deputy Minister of Labour and Advanced Education.
