Get ready to sharpen your claws because it’s time for NSCAD University’s second annual fall fundraising event ROAR: An Art Auction. On Friday, September 26, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. guests will raise their paddles to bid on a fine collection of art by NSCAD faculty and alumni.

This year’s event will feature a live and silent auction, wine tasting and gourmet food in a festive party atmosphere. It takes place in one of the most beautiful locations in the city, NSCAD University’s Port Campus located at 1107 Marginal Rd. The emcee for the evening is Don Connolly of CBC’s Information Morning.

All proceeds from ROAR will go to the university’s 2014-2015 Annual Fund, and are dedicated to enhancing the student experience at NSCAD.

This year’s auction will include approximately 40 artworks in a variety of artistic media including painting, photography, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, jewelry and sculpture. The high-quality work represents NSCAD at its very best, including signature pieces by NSCAD’s award-winning faculty and alumni. The auction will also feature art by up-and-coming NSCAD graduates as they launch their careers.

Tickets for ROAR are just $50 each (student tickets are $25) and can be purchased at: Tickets may also be purchased at the door using Debit, VISA or MasterCard or from the Office of University Relations at NSCAD, 4th Floor, 5163 Duke Street, Halifax.

NSCAD’s Office of University Relations would like to thank our sponsors: The Auction House, Five Fishermen Restaurant (Grafton-Connor Group), Bishop’s Cellar, Zwicker’s Gallery, Studio 21 Fine Art and National Art.

Works by NSCAD faculty and alumni are on the block. This beautiful painting is by retired faculty member Susan Wood. (Steve Farmer Photo)
