The Starfish Student Art Awards is a highlight of the NSCAD calendar. It consists of an exhibition of finalists' work, the announcement of a winner, and a fun party. Plus we’ll have a show and sale of student-made ceramics and a reprise of the “Walking Jewellery Show.” Supported by more than 30 corporate sponsors, the Starfish Gala takes place on Thursday, April 20, 7 pm at the Port Campus. For details, see the NSCAD event page.
NSCAD Design Show 17 is a reception and showcase for 17 graduating NSCAD design students. Friday, April 21, 5 pm at the Port Loggia Gallery, Port Campus, 1107 Marginal Road, Halifax.
Dialect: the NSCAD Fashion Show features the fashion collections of NSCAD students and recent alumni. Guest hosts are designers Chloe and Parris Gordon of Beaufille and our special guest is the Honorable Mayann Francis. Like last year, there will be two runways, one for general admission ticket holders and one for VIPs. In the VIP studio, we’ll have food and beverages, door prizes, gift bags, a small pop-up shop by Jewellery and Textiles students, plus a glimpse of some of the outfits previously on display as part of The Dress: Mayann Francis and the Call to Serve. Saturday, April 22, 7 pm at Port Campus. Tickets are on sale now.
NSCAD Thesis Film Night brings the film shorts of third and fourth-year Media Arts students to the big screen. Monday, April 24, 6 pm to 10 pm at Park Lane Cinemas, 5657 Spring Garden Road, Halifax.
Join NSCAD graduating students, friends and family for the 2017 Graduation Exhibition and Catalogue Launch. This reception and reveal of the 2017 Graduation Catalogue is always a wonderful occasion. Meet Daniel Lurvey, grad catalogue designer, and Erica Flake, grad exhibition curator, view the artworks, and relax with friends and family on the eve of graduation. Thursday, April 27, 5 pm at the Anna Leonowens Gallery, 1891 Granville St., Halifax.
The 2017 Graduation Ceremony takes place on Friday, April 28, 2 pm at the Cunard Centre, 961 Marginal Rd., Halifax. Cheer on NSCAD graduates as they cross the stage for their diplomas, and become part of the NSCAD alumni family.
