Marta Swannie, BFA '94, addresses UK Museums Association

Marta Swannie, BFA '94, recently addressed delegates to the UK Museums Association's Annual Meeting in London. In her presentation, entitled Trading Up: Generating Income from Commercial Activities, she discussed how museums can realize revenue through e-commerce activities, while using product and retail as a way to attract new audiences.

In her remarks, Marta shared design advice for creating  e-commerce shops, and discussed ways of increasing sales by providing a good online user experience while maintaining cultural and brand integrity.

Marta has been asked to repeat the presentation for both the British Craft Council and the National Trust.

Marta is currently the Creative Director and co-founder of London-based digital agency, Cabinet. After graduating from NSCAD, she studied at Cooper Union, NY. With 14 years’ experience in the interactive industry, Marta has worked with many corporate and public sector clients including Orange, PlayStation, Sony Music, the V+A, British Museum, and the Science Museum. Her work has won several accolades, including a BIMA, D&AD, and Axiem award.

In 2003 Cabinet secured capital investment for the development of MemoryPrints, a commercial print on demand application designed for the arts and heritage sector. MemoryPrints now services major museum and galleries across the UK including V+A, British Museum, National Portrait Gallery, Science Museum, The Cortauld and the National Gallery.
