Tuition includes 20/2 cotton warp yarn to equal up to one metre of woven cloth, limited technical support and access to JacqCAD Master software. Warp thread will be either black or white, depending on what is pre-set on NSCAD’s TC-1 jacquard loom. Users provide weft yarn. Registrants are required to have completed one credit course using JacqCAD Master or NSCAD’s non-credit “Introduction to Computerized Jacquard Loom”, and obtain written authorization of Textile faculty.

Registrants must demonstrate competence to work independently including setting and sorting type and must be able to demonstrate knowledge of operation and safety procedures for presses. Written authorization of Visual Communications Services Technician is required. For safety, closed toed/heeled shoes must be worn. Digital equipment is not available.

Fee includes limited technical support and access to foundry equipment and tools assigned in consultation with the technician. Registrants provide all other supplies. (Bronze and aluminum may be purchased from technician. Registrants are required to have completed one foundry-related credit course or equivalent, demonstrate competence to work independently in the foundry studio and provide the technician with a written project proposal. Written authorization from a faculty member and Sculpture technician is required prior to registration. NOTE: This open studio is intended for ceramic shell molding and casting in bronze or aluminum. No finishing services are provided.
