The digital imaging process used to create images for use in digital page layout, interactive media, the web and digital artwork is introduced. Demonstrations, personal and group critiques, exercises and an independent project will familiarize students with the Adobe Photoshop interface, tools, features and menus. Scanning, imaging manipulation, composition, and the use of painterly and photographic effects, digital colour and printing process will be addressed. Tuition includes 10 weeks of access outside of class for homework during times scheduled in cooperation with Multimedia staff. Bring a CD-R or USB Flash Drive, notebook and pen to first class. Prerequisite: Introducing the Computer workshop or equivalent experience with Macintosh OSX operating system. Class limit is 14.

Using Adobe Photoshop CS4 on Macintosh OSX

Students will cover the basics of the program as well as how to import from other Adobe programs such as Photoshop. Students are expected to complete a final independent project.
