Computer Animation
In this course, students will learn various techniques of animation using the animation/drawing software Pencil along with Adobe Photoshop and Apple’s iMovie. This course introduces traditional animation principles and techniques and exposes students to animation workflow, from idea conception to creation. Students will work hands-on in groups and independently to create moving images using readily available equipment and technology.

Introductory Ceramics
In this course, student will learn various techniques of working with clay using pinching, coiling, slab building, carving, texturing and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Using these skills, students will create a variety of artworks including, pinch pots, coiled forms, tiles and sculptures. All students will be able to complete multiple projects, working individually and in groups to create fired and glazed clay creations.  All materials are provided.

Drawing and Painting
This class uses basic techniques to unravels the mysteries of successful drawing and painting. Students will experiment with gesture drawing, blind contours, and representation drawing to emphasizing observational drawing skills. Additional exercises will focus on concepts that are vital to an artist’s education: composition, line, value, perspective, and colour. Students will strengthen their skills through a series of projects and will learn the importance of observation to better interpret the world around us. All materials are provided.

Sculpture
Love 3-D? Use sculpture to ignite your ideas! In this course students will use clay, plaster, paper mache and wire to bring their ideas to life. Students will learn basic mould making techniques, explore color and shape, and learn the history of sculpture. All materials are provided.

Mixed Media Exploration
To art and beyond! Art is diverse and comes in a variety of materials, shapes, sizes, forms and colours. In this course, students will create mixed media artworks using paint, drawing materials, tissue paper, magazines, ink, crayons, fabric and more! Students can expect to create dynamic and colorful artworks utilizing techniques such as resists, stenciling, layering, image transfers and more. All materials are provided.

Creative Comics
Comics bring together the arts of storytelling and illustration. Students learn to give expression, action and motion to their characters as they create cartoons and comic strips. The class also reviews the basics of paneling and composition, and studies the widely divergent styles of cartooning, comics and graphic novels. Young artists are encouraged to expand upon their drawing and cartooning skills and to develop their own signature styles. All materials are provided

Students will create a one of a kind, personalized sketchbook to record thoughts, inspirations, sketches and project ideas.
