I look at our world through the lens of printmaking’s many forms, from the direct expression of a carved relief block to the refined output of the computer matrix and teach from the perspective of the mediums expressive and theoretical possibilities, with initial emphasis on learning the skills in introductory courses.
In my research I see the printing matrix as providing a way of collapsing time by exploring ideas of information entropy, restoration, transfer, deferral and recombination. My interest is in exploring the spaces that exist “between” the individual and the universal in an ocean of printed images over centuries of human interaction and discovery. The “Ledge_ Suite” created in the digital matrix uses an antique ledger to layer time fragments.
