A graduate of Britain's prestigious London Film School in the 80's, Sam Fisher has worked alongside British, Canadian and American filmmakers in his 20 year career. Since moving to Canada in the early 90's he has worked as an editor, production designer, television writer, scenic carpenter, construction coordinator and professor.
Fisher has produced and directed various short films, TV commercials, and music videos including Halifax rock band Mir's Invisible Science and State of Emergency, which were both nominated for video of the year by the Music Industry Association of Nova Scotia (MIANS). His most recent film, Scary Stuff, won the Excellence in Editing Award at the 2004 Atlantic Film Festival.
Now a professor in NSCAD's film program, Fisher's research focuses on reinventing cinematic workflow by taking advantage of digital technology to reduce the inherited complexities and often unrecognized restrictions of a century old technology.
