Amber Solberg BFA '13

With an eye for creativity, Amber Solberg works as an illustrator and art instructor. Since receiving a Visual Arts certificate from Red Deer College (2009) and an Interdisciplinary BFA from NSCAD University (2013), she's been taking the time to really look and learn from the world around her. With strong interests in biology and patterning, she knits together divergent subjects by building up layers of mark-making with watercolours. Her practice has grown to include more self-initiated research and experience through teaching. As an instructor, she works with children, teens and adults on how to cultivate and hone drawing skills as it encourages the individual to look at the world more closely. Art exercises are paired alongside lessons in science, history and more to encourage creative thinking; she's taught with NSCAD Extended Studies, global teaching collectives, businesses and under her own company (Eventers) because she believes everyone has it in them to be creative.
