Gillian is a designer, art director, and illustrator from Toronto Ontario, with a wide range of experience and a particular love for typography and letterforms. She earned an honours degree in Communication Design from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2003. After graduating, she became a founding member of Co & Co, an award-winning art and design collective based in Halifax, where she worked on projects for NSCAD, The Coast Weekly, CBC Canada, and Saint Mary’s Art Gallery.
She currently works for House Beautiful Magazine as the editorial art director and has been living and working in New York for the past four years. Although much of her recent work centers on magazine design and art direction, she is drawn to projects that showcase her love of illustration. Her typographic illustrations have appeared in various publications including The New York Times, and EnRoute Magazine. She won an Applied Arts award for illustration in 2008.
