After the smoke had cleared from Toronto Fashion Week, the Gordon sisters behind the label Chloé Comme Parris took the time to talk about making it in fashion, living up to the hype and their NSCAD education. Chloé graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in Textiles while Parris graduated this year with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree majoring in jewellery design and metalsmithing. Momentum for NSCAD Now

In the past week, gifts to NSCAD Now—the campaign to grow the Annual Fund—have reached $13,000. There's no better time to give than right now; donations received before December 31 will be sent charitable tax receipts applicable for 2011 tax returns.

"Another very good reason for giving now is to demonstrate to NSCAD’s government funders that the university’s alumni and friends care about the institution materially as well as emotionally and intellectually," says Julia Rivard (BDes 2003), chair of the 2011-12 Annual Fund.

Alumni Ring

The NSCAD alumni ring celebrates a lifelong connection to your academic and creative achievements. Designed by Karen Konzuk, BFA 97, this stainless steel band subtly incorporates the official NSCAD colour with a side incision of purple powder-coated finish. Inside the band is an engraved Latin inscription of NSCAD’s informal school mott nolo facere insipida, after John Baldessari's lithograph I Will Not Make Any More Boring Art.

NSCAD alumni gathered in Toronto

NSCAD alumni and friends in the Toronto area enjoyed a reception with President David B. Smith on November 18. More than 50 guests reconnected with NSCAD and each other at the home of Katherine Anderson (BFA 1981) and her husband Gerald Owen. Prof. Smith spoke to the successes and challenges facing NSCAD this fall. Board Governor Rob Dimitrieff (BFA 2003) encouraged alumni to support NSCAD. Linda Hutchison (BDes 1979), director of University Relations, seconded the message and gave a sneak peek of 125th festivities planned for May and September of 2012.
