On the value of a NSCAD education:

“My studies at NSCAD, particularly in semiotics and rhetoric are the most enduring influence on my work. At the time I did not realize how unique this was, but in the years since – both through teaching at other schools and hiring young designers – I have come to see how unparalleled this education was. Currently in design and the visual industries, “the big idea” is celebrated as a flash of brilliance that comes out of the blue and lands on certain creative individuals. At NSCAD I learned how to deconstruct communications and to construct ideas into meaningful designs.”
