Gül Ilgaz, Kim Morgan and Abdi Osman, in partnership with Photopolis: The Halifax Festival of Photography

Gül Ilgaz, Kim Morgan, and Abdi Osman exhibit the large scale photographs that are on display outdoors as billboards within Halifax. In their photographs the artists consider identity in complex variant forms employing blood, costume, location as strategic elements for dialogue.

Gül Ilgaz has exhibited extensively throughout Turkey, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Macedonia, China, England, France, Belgium and Canada. Her work represented Turkey in the 50th Biennial of Venice. Her works can be seen in public and private collections including US consulate of Istanbul. Currently, Ilgaz lives and works in Istanbul.

Kim Morgan has exhibited throughout Canada, New York, and Europe. She is a sculptor/installation artist whose works incorporate techniques, materials and technologies from a wide range of disciplines.  She is currently an Associate Professor in the NSCAD sculpture department.

Abdi Osman is a Somali-Canadian photographer whose work focuses on questions of black masculinity as it intersects with Muslim and queer identities. His photographs have been acquired by many private collections and the Art Bank of the Canada Council for the Arts.
