Student Job Opportunities in the Library

From time to time the NSCAD library requires student assistants to work in the areas of circulation, shelving, office help, and technical services (cataloguing). When specific jobs become available, they will be posted on this page, as well as in the NOW Bulletin and NSCAD Notes as necessary.

Two Student Assistant Library Circulation Positions Available for Fall 2017

The NSCAD Library is looking for 2 new or returning NSCAD students to work regular shifts on the circulation desk for the upcoming fall semester and beyond. Preference will be given to applicants available for training in late August and here longer than one year.

Shifts
Desk shifts are normally 4 to 5 hours in length, 2 to 3 shifts per week, and schedules are set for the length of the semester. You may be asked to fill in other shifts as required.

Job Duties
Job duties include public service, handling cash and debit/credit card transactions, loaning and returning books and reserve materials using the Library’s circulation system, shelving reference material, closing the library on evening shifts, and opening and closing the library on the weekend shifts.

Qualifications
Applicants should be reliable, friendly, self-starting, and familiar with the Library and its services to patrons. They should have experience working with the public, data entry and handling cash, as well as excellent time management and communication skills.
