Mixed Media and Beyond

This introductory studio course will explore a wide variety of mixed media tools and methods to create complex and unique artworks. Students will work with collage, drawing, painting, and recycled and found materials creating 2D works on paper, canvas and other surfaces.  Students will develop a historical and contemporary reference to styles, processes, form and concept. Movements such as Dada, Surrealism, Pop Art, and Abstract Expressionism will be discussed.  Students will develop and implement a new set of skills to use when creating a portfolio through weekly projects, demos, slide talks and handouts.

NEW Art 101: a NSCAD sampler

Have you always wanted to take an art class but not sure where to start? This class is for you! Enter the world of visual art and get first hand experience in the studios at NSCAD University. This eight week series of workshops is designed to introduce students to a variety of materials and processes including ceramics, letterpress printing, jewellery and screen printing. Experiment and have fun in the studio, each set of workshops is project focused so you will go home with finished work from all disciplines. No experience is necessary. 

Experiment and work with clay to create 3d sculptures through mold making and slip casting.
