NEW Utility Apron Workshop

In this, 4-hour hands on workshop, participants will learn introductory machine sewing skills that are transferable to many applications.  Participants will make a ‘Japanese utility apron’.  We will talk about fabric properties, marking, cutting and pressing fabric.  You will use a basic straight stitch function to finish apron, apply pocket and create and attach straps.  This fun and functional apron is stylish and its boxy shape can be easily fit to anyone. This class is suitable for the beginner or anyone who would like to make an awesome apron.  Materials provided. Class limit is 12.

Learn to Stitch

Students will be introduced to basic hand and machine sewing techniques while making a series of fun and functional projects. Working with both commercial and recycled materials, students will learn sewing construction and embellishment, ultimately incorporating elements of their own design. Whether the goal is sewing for your home, making clothing, quilting, or other projects, this class will give you the foundation to get started off on the right foot!

Fashion Construction (intermediate)

For those who have basic sewing skills under their belt and want to dig into the finer details of garment construction. Students will learn and sample garment construction components such as, advanced seam finishes, pockets, darts, sleeves, zipper application, button holes and hemming. Students will then apply these techniques through completing a garment of their choice. Please bring to the first class, 1 meter pre-washed medium weight cotton and a
commercial pattern that includes 3 or more of the following components: pockets,
darts, sleeves, zipper, button holes. Fabric and notions for commercial pattern should be purchased after consultation in the first class. Some supplies will be provided. For safety, students must wear close-toed/heeled shoes. Competent knowledge of sewing and access to a home machine is an asset. Class limit is 12.
