Originally from Prince Edward Island Alexis has made Nova Scotia her home for the past 10 years. Moving to Halifax to go to school where she studied at the University of King’s College and Dalhousie before she transfered to NSCAD. There she majored in ceramics and received her BFA in 2009. She was lucky enough to be able to take advantage of the new ceramic department’s large kilns at NSCAD. It was where she first had the chance to build and develop a body of large-scale sculptural objects, four of which have been installed and displayed in the Historic Gardens of Annapolis Royal since the summer of 2009. Presently Alexis work at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft and Design as their ceramic technician and Studio Coordinator. In addition, she is a ceramic instructor at the Centre and at the Findlay Community Centre in Dartmouth. She also has the opportunity to teach children’s summer camps at NSCAD for the past few years.
