Chris Spencer-Lowe


Christopher Spencer-Lowe is a filmmaker and film educator, arts administrator, sound
designer and performer of unusual works in public. He completed the film program at the
School for the Contemporary Arts, Simon Fraser University in 1997 then worked as the
Production Coordinator and in-house educator at The Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative in
Halifax, Nova Scotia for 14 years. CSL continues to remain an active member of the
Halifax filmmaking community and also revels in live art performance. His recently
completed short film, TRANSFER, is an experimental narrative created from found super
8 home movies and semi-autobiographical scripted sequences. The film was given the
Best Atlantic Short award at the 2014 Atlantic Film Festival within the first the first week
of its release and is continuing to experience a successful festival run. He is currently
working on a companion piece to TRANSFER, entitled TWO, which uses fragmented
Super 8 photography and treated voice recordings of his two year old daughter to recreate
the impression of memory.
