Joe Landry has been teaching Book Arts at NSCAD for the past sixteen years. His education is vast, with bachelor degrees in Chemistry, Music and Linguistics from Dalhousie University; he holds two Master degrees, one in Music from McGill and in one in Binding and Printing from the London College of Printing; additionally he has a degree in Conservation from West Dean College. Joe has also trained in Italy, and is the world-leading expert in Byzantine and Medieval bindings. During his career Joe has made books for the royal family and has worked on books from the fire of London. He also owns and operates Leaf by Leaf, where he specializes in book and paper conservation and fine bindings. Recently, Joe and his apprentice, Katherine Taylor, worked to recreate a replica of the Book of Negroes for the miniseries.
