Karen Lia Schlick is an art educator with a Masters Degree in art education with years of experience teaching art at the grade 7, 8 and 9 level. She was a member of a Nova Scotia travelling puppet theatre troupe, as a performer, script writer and puppeteer. Her shadow puppet play "The Shell Door" was produced for Atlantic television. She was the recipient of the national Fitzhenry and Whiteside award for excellence and innovation in art education. As an artist, her masks were featured in a group show at the Mary Black Gallery in Halifax.
