Katherine Nakaska grew up in Nova Scotia. At a young age, she became fascinated with collecting antiquities and taking analog photographs. She is a recent graduate of NSCAD University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a Major in Photography. During her time at NSCAD, Katherine was awarded the Roloff Beny Photography scholarship, allowing her to travel to Scotland to pursue a project based on her maternal ancestry. She has been delighted to teach the NSCAD Extended Studies: Black and White Film Photography class since the fall of 2014. Katherine was featured in The Coast's 2015 New Art issue, and she was the curator of the 2015 Graduation Exhibition at NSCAD University. She is currently working as a photographer and artist in Halifax.
