March Break Camps 2017

REGISTRATION OPENS JAN 4TH

Our camps include all materials, lunch supervision, early drop-off (8:30am), and late (5:00pm) pick-up. Students are each given a free NSCAD t-shirt to encourage an uninhibited art practice. Lunchtimes are not only supervised, they offer creative and engaging activities for kids of all skills levels!

Visit the March Break Exhibition, opening March 17, 4pm, NSCAD’s Port Loggia Gallery, to see work created by the campers throughout the entire week!

The Mighty Jungle (ages 5-8)

For an entire week we will be be making a jungle! We will make our very own animals and environment. Using your imagination and skills that we will be learning throughout the week, all of us will create a world of our own. Will you make a fearless beast? or maybe a small creature? Not only will we be making these animals, but we will also be designing the world they live in. This will be an exciting, hands-on, creative and crazy week of making and learning. Class limit is 12.

Cartoons, Comics and Doodles (ages 5-8)

Got a doodlebug on your hands? Students who love to draw cartoons and tell stories will LOVE this class. Using their own unique style of drawing and storytelling, each student will explore techniques for developing original characters and ENTIRE WORLDS! Students
 will share and explore each others’ creations through group activities, and learn new tricks to improve their drawing abilities through individual activities. Students will also collaborate on a printed comic art zine, and will be able to share copies with friends and family! The only limit to this class is their imagination.

Class limit is 12.

Toy Making (ages 9-11)

Exploring different toy making techniques we will make the strange creatures from our imagination come to life. Starting from drawings we will use fabric, felt, yarn and other random materials to create your designs.. Class limit is 15.

Urban Art (ages 12-14)

Art makes the world a beautiful place by adding colour, shapes and pattern into the environment. Exploring the ideas presented in graffiti and urban art, students will learn to make art outside in a space beyond paper, galleries and canvas through collaborative and solo projects. Students will learn to attack large scale art, such as murals, and sidewalk art by using the environment that surrounds them
Class limit is 15.

Art 101 (ages 15-18)

Enter the world of visual art and get first hand experience in the studios at NSCAD University.  This week-long series of workshops will expose students to a variety of materials and processes including ceramics, 3D printing, jewellery and more! Create pieces for your portfolio or just for fun.  No experience is necessary.
