The group will work together to create a humorous publication of comic strips, cartoons, and stories.  Children may work independently on their own contribution or team up with others but all will participate in the editorial and publication stages.   Everybody will take home a copy of the FunnyBook.

SC: Inside Out- sewing with style (Week 1)


Get creative and explore your own personal style while learning how to sew! Throughout the week we will make fun projects to decorate your room while learning elements of colour and design. Camp participants will be encouraged to think about what makes them an individual and how they can express that uniqueness in what they create. Projects will use both machine and hand sewing techniques, and will explore sewing using mixed media. Campers will also work throughout the week to design their own fabric that will be used in a project the final day of camp. Students will learn how to use recycled materials and are encouraged (but not required) to bring old clothing or other textile items they would like to repurpose.

SC: Micro to Mega (Week 2)


Shrunken cities, and giant ants! Students will be working individually and collectively to create shrunken scenes, and worlds where the big are small and the small are big! This week includes storytelling, 2D art, and a lot of sculpture! Activities include the making of a giant chair, miniature cities, big cells, and micro cosmos. Be sure to bring your imagination!

SC: Art Outside (Week 5)


Art doesn't have to be confined to galleries, canvases or paper...it belongs everywhere! Art Outside will allow kids to explore different surfaces and materials to make art outside. From sidewalk chalk, to outdoor sketching, to large collaborative paint projects, students will jump into the world of creating art beyond the canvas and outside.

SC: Colours From the Garden (Week 6)


Join us on a journey where we'll gather plants and other found materials to create magnificent colors on fabrics. Spending time outdoors, we will go on a number of nature walks to collect materials, sketch our surroundings, and create art installations. In the studio we will make dye baths using indigo, marigolds, onion skins and other plants to color fabric, paper, and found objects. Together we will explore mark making using processes such as tie-dye, wrapping, and stitching. These materials will then be transformed into art projects such as: bags, sketchbooks, toys, and masks!

SC: Spectacular Space (Week 6)


Always wanted to travel to space? Here is your chance to explore our universe and all of the spectacular things within it. Learn more about the planets in our solar system, phases of the moon, and constellations. What would it feel like to live on another planet? Or to meet an alien? Create works of art that reflect the beauty and awe of outer space. Activities include making a bracelet of our solar system, making a collage alien, and designing a Mars rover. Soon humans could be living on another planet, so get started exploring our wonderful universe!

SC: Box Town A (Week 7)


Start with a box, and then make all your dreams come true. Over the course of the week, the camp will construct a town out of cardboard boxes (large,Refrigerator, dishwasher boxes, etc). Individuals may build their own box house or may work in teams to build box mansions. As well, the entire group will work together to build a school, a hospital, and any other buildings that the group deems necessary.  Roads can be drawn on a ground of canvas paper. We will take breaks through the week for instruction in basic drawing and painting skills (representational drawing and painting), and for slideshows and short films, animations, etc. The goal is for the children to have fun while also absorbing basic principles of fine art.
