The intention of my work is to comment on the origin and visual aspect of stereotyping in Western Society. Each piece utilizes iconic imagery and symbolism associated with the stereotype of a given culture to dictate its form, materials, function and relationship to the wearer. In light of the Western perspective, each object makes reference to a specific mediated example in which a culture is depicted stereotypically. The objective of this work is to question the foundation of our perceptions of the world and to expose the flaws in making assumptions solely based on the visual plane.
