About the Artist

Amanda Memme is a Toronto-based jewellery artist and graduate from George Brown College's Jewellry Arts program and NSCAD University's BFA program majoring in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing.

Amanda has been recognized with achievement in both design and craftsmanship by industry-sponsored awards granted at both institutions of study upon graduating, and is also the winner of the Lafreniere & Pai Gallery's 8th National Jewellery Student Competition. Amanda has exhibited in various shows including the Toronto Annual Clothing Show, and has completed jewellery internships in Toronto and Manhattan.

Whether aesthetically, conceptually, or materially, popular culture and society often inspire Amanda's work. Her 'Green' Bracelet looks to the contemporary advancement of lab-grown gemstones as a means of seeking, and raising awareness of, a necessarily more sustainable and futuristic  approach to the making and wearing of traditional fine jewellery. In her current body of work entitled [This] Is You, Amanda explores jewellery as a  vehicle for social commentary by referencing the media and its effect on the conception of stereotypes.
