Caitlyn Purcell is an artist and jeweller living in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Her jewellery explores an interpretation of Cape Breton culture; the colours, personalities, wonder and difficulties of everyday life. Traces of things found on the beach with gold, silver and bronze make up simple compositions.
Since graduating from NSCAD with a major in jewellery design and metalsmithing in 2009, she has exhibited her makings in several group and solo shows. Caitlyn has also completed two residencies where she explored different bodies of work. She has taught various jewellery related workshops and classes at the Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design, and will teach NSCAD's portfolio preparation class in the fall.
Her most recent endeavor has been opening an art and craft shop, "Salty Rose's" on the Cabot Trail, where she highlights the work of local artisans and fellow NSCAD graduates.
