Craft is a rediscovered set of tools to enrich our lives through well
made objects. I am inspired by domestic spaces, native places and landscapes that seem to have long lasting impressions in our minds. Domestic environments are created by what we have and what we hold as valuable, not so much the space itself.
Domestic space and landscape are rich sources of ideas of how we become
who we are and how who we are is reflected in these spaces. I am especially interested in dishes as a functional ceramic and as an active sculpture that moves inside a domestic space. A plate, bowl or cup are what I consider to be active sculptures as they touch our
mouths and hands and we eat off of them and they live with us. When thinking about the way these objects function in our lives, I consider how their functionality can be addressed in another way. Incorporating quips and puns into cups and bowls are a way for me to inject messages into another persons home.
