NSCAD University Fall 2012 Award Application Forms
Unless stated otherwise, the application deadline is 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 23rd, 2012. Application forms are available in the Office of Student and Academic Services, 2nd floor, 5163 Duke Street, and on the NSCAD website. See application forms for complete details. ABSOLUTELY NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
GENERAL AWARDS
Alan and Christine Hunt Award: Award for an academically successful student (minimum GPA 3.0) who has financial need and who can demonstrate service to NSCAD, the art/craft community or the local community in general.
Joseph Beuys Scholarship: 3 undergrad scholarships (for students with 60+ credits, with at least 2 semesters at NSCAD) and 1 graduate scholarship for a student who has completed half of his or her degree.
Lieutenant Governor’s Community Voluntarism Award: Award for a student with a minimum of 30 credits at time of application. The student must demonstrate leadership and participation in the voluntary sector.
NSCAD Bursaries (J. Dukelow, Kelly Franklin, Former Student, GDC Atlantic, Ruth Goldbloom, International Student, NSCAD General and Robert Pope Foundation bursaries): Bursaries available to students in financial need.
NSCAD General Scholarships (MacAdam Trust, Historic Properties Limited, Dr. S.T. Laufer, Dr. Elizabeth Connor, and McInnes Cooper Scholarships): Scholarships available to undergraduate students with 30 or more credits.
Prince Edward Scholarship is for meritorious Nova Scotia students entering their final year of a NSCAD undergraduate degree.
Robert Pope Foundation Undergraduate Awards: Two awards for 3rd and 4th year (60+ credits) students in a fine, media arts or craft program, and one award for a 2nd year (30 – 59 credits) undergraduate level student in any program of study, based on financial need and academic excellence.
Scotiabank Scholarship: A scholarship for all full time students who have completed one semester of study, with preference given to students from visible minority communities.
Simon Chang and Phyllis Levine Scholarship: This scholarship represents an acknowledgment of senior undergraduate students (with 75+ credits) who have achieved distinction in their areas of study at NSCAD University.
SUNSCAD Scholarship for Student Involvement: A scholarship available to a student who has completed two full-time semesters at NSCAD at the time of application and has demonstrated community involvement at NSCAD and/or in the HRM.
FOUNDATION AWARDS
Marion Clare MacBurnie Memorial Scholarship: A scholarship for a student from one of the four Atlantic Provinces (NL, PEI, NS or NB) who has excelled in the Foundation Program and will be pursuing studies in a fine art medium.
NSCAD Alumni Association Scholarship: A scholarship for a promising Foundation student.
Robert Pope Foundation Bursary and Foundation Faculty Bursary: Bursaries for promising Foundation students.
CRAFT AWARDS
Dunes Studio Scholarship: Scholarship for third or fourth year (60+ credits completed) student working in one of the three craft disciplines (textiles, jewellery/metalsmithing, or ceramics).
Walter Ostrom Scholarship in Ceramics: Scholarship for a 3rd or 4th year (60+ credits) full-time student majoring in Ceramics and enrolling in off-campus or exchange study in the coming year.
FINE ARTS AWARDS:
PAINTING AWARDS
Margo and Rowland Marshall Award for Painting: Scholarship for painting students with 60-89 credits.
Robert Pope Foundation Painting Scholarships: One award for a 2nd year (30 – 59 credits) undergraduate painting student, and two awards for 3rd and 4th year (60+ credits) undergraduate painting students, based on academic excellence.
Takao Tanabe Painting Scholarship: Scholarship available to a third year (60-89 credits) painting student who demonstrates academic achievement.
SCULPTURE AWARDS
Lyell Cook Scholarship: A scholarship for a third year sculpture student (60-89 credits).
Margo and Rowland Marshall Award for Sculpture: Scholarship for sculpture students with 60+ credits.
MEDIA ARTS AWARDS:
PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS
Canon Photography Awards: Awards for photography students in their final year of study (90+ credits).
Roloff Beny Scholarship: 2 Scholarships for undergraduate students who have competed 60 credits at NSCAD, including 6 credits of 3000 level Photography courses and 6 credits of Art History courses.
Ted Brown Photography Scholarship: A Scholarship for photography majors from Altantic Canada with 60 or more credits.
FILM/MEDIA AWARDS
Gordon Parsons Scholarship: A scholarship available to Atlantic Canadian students working in the video/filmmaking mediums.
Xerox Canada Scholarship: A scholarship awarded to an undergraduate student with at least 2 semesters at NSCAD and 60 or more credits (3rd or 4th year) who has shown superior merit in his/her program of studies.
DESIGN AWARDS
Colin Allin Memorial Scholarship: Funding to assist a senior level design student, as a way of celebrating Colin’s life and his lasting contribution to Garrison Brewing Company as their designer.
Lou Cable Scholarship: Scholarship for students in the Bachelor of Design Program with 15+ CMDS, DSGN or PROD credits.
EXCHANGE/ OFF-CAMPUS STUDY AWARDS
Marguerite and Leroy Zwicker Fellowship: Funding to assist a student approved for a full-time Off-Campus Study or Student Exchange Program for the Summer 2012, Fall 2012, or Winter 2013 semester which will take place outside of North America.
