Summer kids campSummer Kids Camp Fun in Boxtown

What is terrorizing Boxtown? Who can save it? What could your child do to make a difference? This is a ‘must read’ for any young person.

About the Boxtown Summer Camp

Start with a box, and then make all your dreams come true. Over the course of the week, the camp will construct a town out of cardboard boxes (large,Refrigerator, dishwasher boxes, etc). Individuals may build their own box house or may work in teams to build box mansions. As well, the entire group will work together to build a school, a hospital, and any other buildings that the group deems necessary. Roads can be drawn on a ground of canvas paper. We will take breaks through the week for instruction in basic drawing and painting skills (representational drawing and painting), and for slideshows and short films, animations, etc. The goal is for the children to have fun while also absorbing basic principles of fine art. Boxtown A camp includes a trip to the Discovery Centre.

Our famously fun summer kids camps explore a variety of themes that inspire curious young minds, as they participate in workshops and explore a whole new world of art and design, and learn social and educational skills.

Our summer kids camps include all materials, lunch supervision, early drop-off (8:30am), and late (5:00pm) pick-up. Students are each given a free NSCAD t-shirt to encourage an uninhibited art practice. Lunchtimes are not only supervised, they offer creative and engaging activities for kids of all skills levels.

Visit the Summer Kids Camp Exhibition, Port Loggia Gallery, NSCAD University, to see work created by the campers throughout the entire Summer.
Highlights include: trips & workshops with the Discovery Centre for select camps, a two-part mural project in collaboration with HRM, and another opportunity to exhibit at the Dartmouth Comic Arts Festival (DCAF). With these, and many more inventive art classes, you’re bound to make your mark this summer!
