The class will look at both non-objective and figurative abstraction in drawing. We will discuss the primary elements that make strong compositions while also broadening intuitive skills and imagination. This is a good class both for someone who wants to start developing their drawing skills and for those who want to expand on the drawing skills they already have. Through a series of exercises students will be encouraged to experiment with mark making, composition, black and white, colour and materials to develop their own personal imagery and process of working. Each class will begin with a short presentation on different artists use of abstraction. Bring pencils (B range), kneaded eraser, white eraser, 9 x 12 sketchbook, compressed charcoal and two bulldog clips to the first class. Class limit is 15.
