Background

Patryk Stasieczek holds a Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Media Arts (Photography). They have a BFA in Photography from Concordia University, an MFA from Emily Carr University, and have contributed to both institutions as faculty ahead of their appointment at NSCAD University.

CURRENT RESEARCH AND/OR CREATIVE PRACTICE

Patryk’s practice explores photography as an embodied, interdisciplinary queering of image histories, actions, and materials. Chromaphilic in approach, they investigate the affective labor tied to the experimentation and fabrication of images, utilizing spatial applications of light and technology. Their research is informed by their pedagogy that delves into the emergent conditions of photography and the physical relationships images create as forms of experiential knowledge.

SIGNIFICANT PUBLICATIONS/EXHIBITIONS

Patryk’s work as an artist and curator has been featured in collaboration with the Pensacola Museum of Art (USA), Peripheral Review (CA), Centre Clark (CA), Magenta Foundation (CA), Capture Photography Festival (CA), and others.
