Facility Overview

NSCAD is built for makers. You’ll have unlimited studio access and use some of the best facilities in North America. In our fabrication shops, technicians will help you figure out how to do anything your fabulous mind dreams up. From here, you’ll leave your mark on Halifax, one of Canada’s great DIY art cities.

Our Campuses

You will work in a beautiful maze of interconnected 19th century buildings at the Fountain Campus, look out at huge views of the Atlantic from our sleek Port Campus, and push the boundaries of media at the Academy Campus, a Gothic Revival building built in 1878 as a high school.

NSCAD University is committed to creating an inclusive and working environment where students, faculty, and staff can participate fully in campus life. Many of NSCAD’s campuses are historic sites and were not originally designed to meet modern accessibility standards. While we have made improvements over time, physical barriers still exist. Learn more about NSCAD’s physical accessibility features and limitations.

WRITING AND RESEARCH

NSCAD is full of places to work on a project or write an essay. There are computer labs throughout all three campuses with printing and photocopy services. The NSCAD University Library houses a collection of more than 50,000 books and periodicals in the visual and media arts, craft, fashion, and design.

SHOPS AND STUDIOS

At NSCAD, our teaching methods are more interdisciplinary than most schools. What does that mean? From day one, students learn, experiment, fail, and fall in love with many techniques, materials, concepts, and theories.
