What To Expect
Located in our historic Fountain campus, our Printmaking studios is where raw ideas are pressed into tangible, high-impact reality. Expect an immersive, hands-on environment where traditional craftsmanship and experimental studio practices seamlessly collide.
Under the guidance of master printmakers, you will build technical self-reliance, solve complex material challenges, and develop a confident, professional studio practice that speaks with authority to the contemporary art world.
Facilities
Our Printmaking facilities offer students incredible, open-access opportunities to master both classic and contemporary print mediums.
- Fountain Campus Printmaking Lofts (Fountain Campus, 3rd Floor): Our main, high-capacity studio hub featuring specialized, dedicated working zones for relief printing, mono-printing, intaglio, screen printing, and lithography.
- The Dawson Print Shop: One of Canada’s most extensive and celebrated collections of functional typographic material. Located on campus, the shop acts as a living museum and teaching lab, housing a vast array of historic letterpress printing technologies.
- Acid-Etching and Darkroom Exposure Suites: Fully ventilated safety zones equipped with vertical acid baths, chemical preparation areas, and UV screen-exposure systems for high-precision photomechanical print processes.
- Integrated Digital-To-Analog Prep Lab: A dedicated workflow space where students can transition digital vector designs, photography, and digital layouts directly into physical films, screens, and plates.
