Background

B.A. Honours Equivalency, Acadia University,  BFA, NSCAD University, M.A., Carleton University,  M.F.A., NSCADUniversity, Med., Dalhousie University.  Rose was inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in 2006 and was awarded and Established Artists Recognition Award by the Nova Scotian government in 2010.  She has received numerous Canada Council and Provincial Arts Council awards.  Her work is included in the Canada Council Art Bank, Nova Scotia Art Bank, Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and several other university collections.  She completed a residency at the Memory disability Clinic at the QEII Hospital,  was Artist-in-Residence with the neurosurgeon Dr. Ivar Mendez, and a residency at The Museum of the History of Science, Florence Italy.

CURRENT RESEARCH AND/OR CREATIVE PRACTICE

Rose recently produced a large ash painting as a memorial to her father who had been blown up in a barn in Sicily in World War II.  This was installed with his army boots and documentation of his PTSD and injuries.  Currently, Rose is focussing on writing, preparing a poetry manuscript for submission to publishers.

SIGNIFICANT PUBLICATIONS/EXHIBITIONS

Rose has an extensive exhibition record.  Her 25 year mid-career retrospective, “Birds, Bones and Brains” was exhibited at Saint Mary’s University Art Gallery in 2014.
