Background

With a teaching career spanning over thirty years, Véronique has taught all ages and levels in a variety of dance disciplines. She has offered workshops in teacher training and creation techniques and currently serves on faculty at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD University), Neptune Theatre School, The Fountain School of Performing Arts (Dalhousie University), and Halifax Dance. She has served on numerous arts juries for Arts Nova Scotia and the Canada Council for the Arts and volunteers for The Dancer Transition Resource Centre out of Toronto, assisting dancers with transitions into, within, and out of their careers.

A recipient of one of Nova Scotia’s prestigious Established Artist Awards, Merritt Award winner for choreography, and two-time recipient of Live Art’s Diane Moore Scholarship for choreography, Véronique has presented her work across the country in a variety of festivals and productions including Toronto’s Junction Festival, The Edmonton Fringe Festival, Labrador Arts Festival and Festival Antigonish. Having choreographed for stage, opera, musical theatre and film, Veronique has worked with Willem Defoe and Robert Pattinson in The Lighthouse (New Regency Films), the Opera N.S. production of La Finta Giardineira, as well as assistant choreographer on Neptune Theatre’s holiday hit of Cinderella and as director/choreographer for Opera Nova Scotia’s The Gondoliers. 

Véronique heads into 2021 with continued work on her multi-media creation “She Wakes Up Gasping”, her painting studio commissions, and she will be attending an artist residency in France for the month of July.
