Workshop: Material–Texture–Sound (hands-on)

Join us for a hands‑on workshop exploring how physical materials translate into sonic textures. Through close listening and practical recording exercises you’ll collect sound samples from a variety of textiles, manipulate tactile qualities, and shape those recordings into musical and textural elements. Examine and handle different surfaces. Stretch and pull fabrics over frames, varying tension to change their sonic character. Record with field recorders and high‑quality microphones to capture subtle haptics. Practice deep listening to identify timbral and rhythmic possibilities. Create audio samples, edit and process recordings, and experiment with mixing and synthesis to transform textures into musical material.
