You will need this plan card to go to Saint Mary’s Clinic or any other medical provider, including a pharmacy. We recommend providing your plan card to any medical assistance provider.
Numerous walk-in clinics across the province are also available to students. These clinics generally have long wait times, so please set aside a whole day if you use this service. Use the Provider Search Tool on the StudentVIP page to find a more suitable clinic closer to you.

Nova Scotia’s Health Insurance Programs provide eligible residents with coverage for medically required hospital, medical, dental, and optometric services, subject to certain restrictions. Visitors to Nova Scotia are not considered eligible residents and are not eligible for coverage.

NSCAD students have access to a doctor through the Saint Mary’s Clinic (SMU). The Saint Mary’s clinic is for nonemergency, appointment-only medical matters. Online service that provides non-emergency healthcare. Depending on the time of day, you can be connected to a doctor within minutes. You may receive a diagnosis, medical advice, have lab requisitions ordered, and more from your phone, tablet, or computer, no referral needed.

Safer Space massage

Safer Space Massage Therapy was created by Leah Inman (they/them) after experiencing growing disappointment at the lack of services in Halifax for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Located in Fairview, SSMT is a home-based option for those who find clinic settings to be daunting, triggering, or draining.
Accessibility: There is a wide ramp leading to the entrance. Front door measurement is 31 inches, and some tight corners are inside.
