Film

At NSCAD, film facilities offer students the means to explore film as an art form while preparing them for the complex, collaborative art form of filmmaking.

What To Expect

NSCAD students will have access film sets, props made in-house, industry-level camera gear and editing software. In this environment, students will learn all aspects of making shorts, documentaries, animation, and experimental films.

Students work collaboratively projects, rotating between many roles: writing, acting, directing, producing, cinematography, production design, editing and sound design.

Facilities

Located on the corner of Sackville Street and Brunswick Street, our Academy Campus building has everything a Media Arts student would need to for comprehensive training in filmmaking.

Our facilities include:

  • Screening room
  • Theatre
  • Two sound rooms
  • Animation room
  • 16mm editing suites
  • Computer rooms
  • Recording booths

The film department also acts as a service centre to the entire school. All active NSCAD students can book camera equipment, sound gear, lights, etc. for their academic and non-academic film project. You can book online via the Academy Campus equipment site.
