Film
Our Film facilities offer students the means to explore film as an art form, while preparing them for the complex and collaborative industry of filmmaking.
What To Expect
In our Film facilities, students will learn all aspects of making shorts, documentaries, animation, and experimental films. Student will have access to film sets and props (made in-house), industry-level camera gear, and editing software.
Students work collaboratively on projects, rotating between many roles: writing, acting, directing, producing, cinematography, production design, editing and sound design. At the end of the year, students present their final project at NSCAD’s annual Film Festival.
Many graduates of our Film/Media Arts program have created award-winning films that are screened nationally and internationally.
Facilities
Located on the corner of Sackville Street and Brunswick Street, our Academy Campus building has everything a Media Arts student would need to for comprehensive training in filmmaking.
Our facilities include:

- Electronics and experimental media lab
- Filming studio
The film department also acts as a service centre to the entire school. All active NSCAD students can book camera equipment, sound gear, lights, etc. for their academic and non-academic film project. You can book online via the Academy Campus equipment site.
