Sign up for mARTch break camp fun at NSCAD University! (March 12-16, 2018) You can be Young at Art, join The NSCAD Band, explore the the visual language of Comics and Zine-making or experience a a behind the scenes look in to NSCAD’s studios though Art 101, we offer engaging art camps for all skill levels (ages 5-18).

Camps run from 9am to 4 pm with early drop-off and late pick-up available and included in the cost. Each day at lunch, we’ll make an arty mess and have a blast with button making, screenprinting, tie-dye and more (all materials are included)! Just don’t forget your free mARTch break camp-supplied t-shirt (to cut down on that ever-present laundry load). Come and celebrate with us at the end of the week with our ARTrageous Exhibition held in NSCAD’s Port Loggia Gallery, 1107 Marginal Road, March 16th, 4pm to 6pm.

Young at Art (ages 5-8) Lisa MacPherson

Enjoy an unforgettable week of awesome art projects, new friends, and fun! Learn about the elements of art and explore different mediums and techniques each day. Students will create multiple visual art projects, inspired by artists of the past and present, as well as the amazing world around us.

Tuition: $ 295

The NSCAD Band (ages 9-11) Patrick Burgomaster

Can you hear it? Please welcome The NSCAD Band to the stage! Campers will design and build their own instruments out of wood and other materials. Learn to embellish through traditional and non-traditional art making techniques such as drawing, painting, collage and more. For the grand finale, they will write and record songs using their instruments. Tuition: $ 295

Comics and Zines (ages 12-14) Kyle Bridget

This class will introduce students to the visual language of comics and the basics of zine-making. Through individual and group exercises, students will learn the core techniques of writing and illustrating for comics, manga, and graphic novels. Using common and inexpensive materials, such as printer paper, pens, and even dental foss, students will learn simple photocopying and binding techniques while creating collaborative comic zines. The zine is a unique medium for self-expression with endless possibilities, so all skill levels and styles of drawing are welcome. All materials will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring any preferred drawing materials with which they are already familiar. Tuition: $ 295

Art 101 (ages 15-18) Various

Enter the world of visual art and get first-hand, behind the scenes studio experience at NSCAD University. This week-long series of workshops will expose students to ceramics, jewellery-making, illustration, book-binding, letterpress and textiles. Create pieces for your portfolio or just for fun. No experience is necessary to learn from our talented instructors of NSCAD faculty, students and local artists.
