Academics

The Office of Academic Affairs and Research (“Academics and Research”) is charged with leadership and oversight responsibilities for all NSCAD academic and research enterprises. The office provides leadership for the dean, directors of undergraduate and graduate studies, The Anna Leonowens Gallery, the Offices of Opportunity and Belonging and the Registrar, Admissions, and Extended Studies. Beyond this, Academics and Research maintains a vast array of world-class support facilities, including libraries, historic and visual archives, and workshops specializing in digital-visualizations, painting, sculpture, jewellery, textiles, ceramics and photography.

Academics and Research also provides information on sources of grant funding, assists with grant applications and contract proposals, supports project planning, proposal development and project coordination, and promotes research within and beyond the NSCAD community. In addition, Academics and Research provides support for Senate, chairs and directors, the Institute for the Study of Canadian Slavery, and the Creative Entrepreneurship Lab. The office is leading the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion planning, and leading de-colonization initiatives to support the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
