Background

I’m an interdisciplinary artist whose practice focuses on experimental animation and process cinema. I’ve been teaching at NSCAD since 2001, and though I’ve taught a lot of animation (experimental, intro, and this course), I’ve also taught digital image making, foundation moving image, writing for the arts, and design seminar courses. You might also know me from the Writing Centre, where I’ve been tutoring and helping manage the centre for the past few years.

Over the last 20 years my involvement with animation and media arts communities has taken the form of directing the Centre for Art Tapes, serving on the national board for the Independent Media Arts Alliance and co-organizing the Animation Festival of Halifax. From 2007-2012, I lived in Asan, South Korea, where I taught film and animation at SoonChunHyang University and participated in Space Cell Lab and the EXiS Festival in Seoul.

I am currently a student in the Cinema and Media Studies PhD program at York University where I’ll be researching experimental animation in the context of social engagement and process cinema. I’m also a parent to a ten year-old who has taught me how to make animation in Geometry Dash.
