Artist Talk

Haitian-Canadian filmmaker Miryam Charles will deliver an artist talk at NSCAD University, discussing her films and her journey as a filmmaker over the years. 

WHERE: Room A208, NSCAD Academy Campus – 1649 Brunswick Street.

This talk is presented as part of NSCAD’s Visiting Artist program, supported by the Daglish Family Foundation Visiting Artist Fund.

Film Screening

In addition to the artist talk, Miryam Charles will be screening her retrospective film, Rites of Passage: A Miryam Charles Retrospective, at Fleapit Cinema. 

The screening is followed by an in-person Q&A with Miryam Charles, moderated by Kate Solar.

About The Artist(s)

Miryam Charles is a filmmaker of Haitian origin living in Montreal. Her films have been shown at various festivals in Quebec and abroad. Her first feature, Cette maison, premiered at the Berlinale, then presented at the AFI Film Festival, and was included in the TIFF Top 10 and Sight and Sound‘s Best Films of the Year in 2022. Her work has been shown at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Leonard and Bina Ellen Gallery, the Everson Museum and the Palais de Tokyo.
